Instruments and Equipment
We develop the next generation of detection instruments based on the new detector materials both developed at CapeSym and elsewhere to produce significantly higher performance and lower-cost instruments. We also introduce new concepts such as directionality to expand the CONOPS capabilities of modern detection instruments.

Handheld Devices
Our R&D effort is focused on development of next-generation PRDs, SPRDs, RIIDs, as well as GM-tube based detectors, that would have substantially better performance than currently possible at affordable prices. We draw on our Materials R&D portfolio, including but not limited to high performance scintillators such as SrI2, and new semiconductor detectors CsPbBr3, TlBr, and LiInSe2. We leverage our decades of experience in materials processing to achieve low production cost.

Portal Monitors
Our main R&D focus in the area of portals is development of Spectroscopic Portals at affordable cost. To this end we draw on our expertise in Monte-Carlo simulation and fabrication to develop portals incorporating composite detectors based on spectroscopic scintillators and plastic scintillators. We are also developing very high performance spectroscopic portals based on new generation of scintillators with high energy resolution.

Autonomous Mobile Detectors
Our R&D effort in this area is focused on development of autonomous mobile detectors which use the directionality information provided by our detector modules to rapidly home in on the target. We draw on our expertise in simulation, detector engineering, and signal processing to develop detector modules suitable for ground and aerial autonomous mobile detectors.
